What a weekend...

Took the Gold Brick (1982 Mercedes-Benz 300D) for the trip to Berkeley to see "An Inconvenient Truth" on Friday night. I scored some free passes, so I couldn't turn it down. Anyway, it was plenty fun, and the wife and I had dinner at the Organic Restarant next door to the theater (Very Berkeley!). Al Gore's Powerpoint Demo is well-made and informative. I learned some science, like the CO2 breathing cycle of the Earth, and now I understand why BioDiesel is a Carbon-Neutral choice of fuel as opposed to petroleum-based fuels. I would recommend the film to anyone who can view it with an open mind.

On the way there, I discovered the air-conditioner has ceased working. Oh, Joy. Cost a bloody fortune to fix last month, and it's already crapped out? Lovely. Then, sitting in the slow eastbound crawl to the Caldecott Tunnel, the Brick started to get hotter and hotter, until I started to worry. Then after the movie, on the uphill climb from Berkeley back to the Caldecott, the temp started to rise until it was just below the top end red mark. Stopped and poured water over it, then noticed the fan at the front of the radiator wasn't running, either. So, I had that problem with a VW once, the car only kept cooled off if the car moved faster than 32 miles an hour. Sweet. I wonder if the air conditioner failure has anything to do with it?
